Notary Public Education Rules
Notary Public Educational Rules for the State of Georgia (Effective January 1, 2025)
With the adoption of House Bill 1292 by the Georgia General Assembly during the 2024 legislative session, Georgia’s notaries public are required to complete an educational training course as part of the application process. The educational requirement applies to all notary applicants, whether it is an initial (new) application or a renewal application. Fees
The application fee is $51 and is due at the time of signing your application in the Clerk's office. Accepted funds are cash, money order, or cashier's check.
Term of Office
The term of office lasts for four years from the date of commissioning.
Renewal
You may renew your notary no more than 30 days in advance of your expiration date. Renewal forms are available at the Clerk's Authority Website.
